I am a sociolinguist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Rutgers University. My research applies diverse methodologies to the study of how relationships between linguistic systems, cognitive mechanisms, and social contexts can elucidate mechanisms of language variation and change. Beyond my research, I am dedicated to teaching and mentoring students. I offer courses in sociolinguistics and multilingualism at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, encouraging students to engage with real-world linguistic issues through fieldwork and community-based projects. In my free time, I enjoy handcrafts, board games, volunteering as a children’s advocate, and spending time with my partner and our two rescue beagles.
